How I Got Here.

Many of you may have found yourself in a similar situation as I did about a year ago. I was wide awake in the middle of the night, in one of those stress-induced insomniac episodes. You know the kind where the intrusive thoughts take over your mind and keep it from shutting off so you can get back to sleep. For me, these usually include financial stress and ways to become a millionaire overnight, the health of my family, home DIY project ideas and the overwhelming need to become physically fit. So, naturally, I decided to binge scroll on all of my social media apps to assist in lulling me back to sleep. Before I knew it, the sun began to peek through my window and it was time to start another day. As the day went on and the Maxwell coffee kept going down, I kept up with my normal social media check ins, however, I noticed they were all different now. One wrong click and a couple of rabbit holes on #badassmotherbirthers (warning, graphic) and my entire social media was now flooded with picture perfect families in matching clothes, beautiful professionally decorated homes, DIY projects for those with an unlimited budget, homesteading ideas for 40+ acre properties, pictures of women with 6-pack abs one week postpartum, a lot about horrific birth stories and even more about chickens. Since then, it has been nearly impossible to weed through the content and find something or someone I can relate to.

My intention for this blog is to provide a space to come to the next time you find yourself in another stress-induced insomniac episode (because lets be honest, there will be a next time). I promise that everything I post will be real, raw, honest and perhaps even relatable, content. From DIY dos and donts based strictly off of trial and error, to thrifting ideas to support your homesteading dreams on a (realistic) budget, providing credible information about pregnancy, labor and birth, well, because I am a Certified Nurse Midwife after all and finally my own personal challenges as a wife, mommy, “ma” and human, in hopes it inspires you, helps you and brings you peace of mind that there are others out there just as normal as you. Hope you enjoy! – Carly
